The weekend of January 16 and 17 was both a happy and sad day for members of Perry Hi-Way as we left behind our old Peach Street station and moved to the new station on Oliver Road. As the membership moved the emergency equipment to the new station and cleaned out the old station many, members shared memories from days gone by. The majority of the emergency equipment was moved over the weekend with a few remaining items moved out over the following week.

The old station was built by the membership back in 1962 and has just become to small for our growing department. Truck bays that housed as many as 5 pieces of apparatus at one point today can barely hold 3 modern pieces. The lack of office space and no dedicated bunk areas for men and women made our move a necessity. The Peach Street Location had also become troublesome in recent years due to the amount of traffic, making it difficult for members to get into the station on alarms and also to get the emergency apparatus out of the station.

The years of planning and hard work have now paid off with the completion of our new fire house and social hall located at 8281 Oliver Road on the west side of Summit Township. We can now house up to 6 pieces of modern apparatus, have additional office space and have separate bunk rooms and shower / locker facilities for both men and women. Stop in anytime to see this new facility.
